College Applications.

a lot of this stuff is online now

I have just recently finished my college application for the University of Santo Tomas (UST), and hoo boy that entire process was very scary and now I am in the mercy of whoever is going to read my application and my high school, who is in charge of basically filling in the rest of the details and make life easier for us in the long run. This is just the beginning of a whole year of clusterfucks as I apply to 3 more colleges in the hopes of getting accepted into one and getting into a decent paying job that will give me the power and revenue to become financially independent and not die a phenetic failure To you all younsters and zoomers approaching the years of 10th-11th grade, or whatever equivalent thereof exists, let this older zoomer explain his trials and tribulations of dealing with the seemingly cruel process of applying or college.

On the 12th Grade, you will basically be bombarded with a ton of people basically pushing you to finally decide on what course you should take, which college you should go to, and basically lay out the plans on how you will be the answer to the question on "what do you want to be when you grow up" literally everyone asks you when you were like 6. Literally every school faculty member and their mother will shove the importance of getting into a good college and being put on a good course down your throat at day 1 of being in the 12th grade. The entire year will be a combination of cramming all your requirements to get passed the college applications and speed running a large load of school requirements and projects simultaneously. In the context of online classes, if that is somehow still the situation wherever you are, that will be made significantly difficult depending on your class and what your classmates are like because they will play the most vital role of whether or not you will pass the year.

You don't need to worry too much about the dates of college application period too much because they are very spread out, but you have to do them as early as possible because being in 12th grade is very intensive in terms of academic requirements... so get that shit done while you still have time. Get all of your junior high paperwork in order as well because colleges will most likely require you to basically punch in the numbers of your 7th-10th report cards depending on which college you are going to. While you are still in the junior high side of things, with me assuming you lot are still in the 9th or 10th grades, join as many extra curricular activities as possible, cos you need to fill out a resume so that your teachers will know you better, because colleges will ask for you to grab recommendations in order to land you in a good college.

There is still a ton of bullshit that needs to be done, now made significantly more difficult in the context of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Like, college life was something I was so excited about for so long when I was a kid because it was a phase of personal independence in your life, and when you actually get to the age where you get to be in the process of transitioning of being a kid to a young adult, you realize how paralyzing the entire process will be and are self-aware enough to see basically how everything can impact several aspects of your life beginning with the courses you picked to study in college. Sometimes you may even be put under the illusion of free choice where people in your life, like family, nudge you to colleges and courses they think you should be in so that they can have a bragging right, while still saying that you can basically do whatever you want and being utterly disappointed if you go with the choice that isn't the one they wanted.

This phase in life is the beginning of a series of existential crises you younger viewers will experience. However, do not let that stop you from pursuing a life that is fulfilling and fun for you all. Going to college is the start of being a free and independent person, which is a horrifying thing to think about, but is mostly an extremely cool opportunity to prove you can take care of yourself.  Plus college may actually be fin depending on what the tides of luck bring towards you. A lot of people say that your years in college are the best in your lives, and I am really hoping for that to be the case because it is most certainly true for high school when I look back at it. All you need to focus now are submitting all your school requirements for high school and working on your college applications.
